Weekend Healthy Recipe Idea: A Tropical Green Smoothie
A while ago, I started subbing out my usual morning latte for a glass of green juice—and was amazed at how much more energy I had. I've since become a little more lax about having a glass o'green every day (I do so still love lattes), but I'm always on the lookout for new recipes to try.

This one is courtesy of health and wellness expert JJ Smith, who created her "10-Day Green Smoothie Program" (which is outlined in her book, 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse) after recovering from mercury poisoning. Green juices are often loaded with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, and, in Smith's program, she suggests swapping out one meal a day with a green juice over the course of 10 days.
This recipe contains pineapple for a taste of the tropics—hey, it's spring! We can officially start obsessing about beach vacations now, right?
Pineapple Spinach Smoothie
2 cups fresh spinach, packed
1 cup pineapple chunks
2 cups frozen peaches
2 bananas, peeled
1 1/2 packets stevia
2 cups water
2 tbsp. ground flaxseeds
Optional: 1 scoop of protein powder
Mix all in blender and drink!
